The Jordanian National NGOs Forum (JONAF) develops a response plan and monitors the Situation of the affected families in Al Mafraq

As part of its endeavor to lead the efforts exerted in the areas of the humanitarian response and development in Jordan, to meet the needs of vulnerable groups of refugees, asylum seekers in Jordan and Jordanian host communities most affected by the conflicts of neighboring countries, JONAF which was initiated by a number of CSOs and CBOs in 2016, is currently working at developing a response plan to support the government in its efforts. This plan entails monitoring developments and submitting proposals for community-based interventions by local civil society organizations.

The Plan comes in response to the current conditions prevailing throughout the world and in Jordan in particular, and in light of WHO’s declaration of Covid-19 as a pandemic, exacerbation of refugee and poverty conditions, and the weather conditions that the Kingdom went through affected many areas, eliminating many agricultural crops and housing which were inhabited by Bedouins, farmers and refugees and resulting in the deterioration of the families and farmers health conditions and their ability to work.

JONAF’s representatives conducted field visits in each of the Naifah 655, Ghadeer al-Naqa, and Tal al-‘Is areas in Mafraq, Northern Badia, through which they examined the situation and documented the needs to work to advocate to ensure the safety and protection of the affected families and ensure the preservation of their decent living.

Mr. Farea Al-Masaeed, JONAF’s member and head of the Child Welfare Association in Mafraq, also stressed the importance of the role of local organizations in the rapid intervention operations on the ground saying that “Local organizations are the most able to address such crises and reach out to the affected communities and help them.”

JONAF’s members confirm their readiness and capabilities to cooperate and support the efforts of the government in this regard, in a manner that ensures partnership with the local civil society and benefiting from their expertise and capabilities to deal with these crises. In addition to its firm stand side by side with the government in facing COVID Pandemic in a manner that guarantees preserving our community’s safety and dignity, giving due care and attention to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities and families suffering from poverty, ensuring the correctness of information and fighting the spread of false information.
